What it’s like working with me on your website

Let’s be honest: when aren’t we thinking about new websites? Whether we just clicked to something that gave us website envy, just launched a new website or can’t stop thinking of how we keep de-prioritizing redoing our website (like some kind of basement-organizing process that feels like it’ll literally never happen), for business owners, it’s always vying for front-of-the-brain space.

Sooo what’s that look like? And what fun might lie ahead? (Um, yes, we’re talking about collaborating with others to make things happen.)

When you work with me, we’ll dig into the website work after any logo design work is complete. We’ll chat strategy, scope… What do you have in mind? What do I have in my mind that you might benefit from? After that, I’ll get you started with my super-thorough website copywriting document and take a look at some starting points on Squarespace, ShowIt templates or Shopify (depending on which platform suits your business best).

Want to work with some pros? While I love using free stock image resources like Unsplash, you’ll see lots of people using those images because they’re free. I suggest investing in your brand via brand photography and/or a copywriter – it almost always pays dividends, and it takes away things that might not be up your alley. Speaking from experience here, it can be so much fun. A few of my favorite photographers are Folchi Creative, Ashley D Photography and Sugar Plum Creative. The wordsmiths I’m constantly recommending are Bodhi Copy Co, April Warner and Brittany Gibson. Check them out!

Once I design your site, we’ll spend some time reviewing and tweaking it before we plan out the launch! Fans will want to hear what drove you to rebrand or start your company.

At that point, you’ll have a complete website that looks and sounds like it’s 100% focused on your mission, values, and audience. How good will that feel? And as a bit of a parting love note, I’ll leave you with a handful of how-to videos of me walking you through basic web support.

But that doesn’t have to be the end, of course. I’ll be here if you need anything… yes, including a site refresh in a couple of years.

Speaking of partnerships, a few clients have worked with those recommended above, and it’s a great way to see it all come together. First example, the fabulous Lindsay Ivancic of Bohdi Copy Co did a rebrand in which she went as far as changing her business’ name! Yes, she wrote her own website copy, but she paired with Sugar Plum Creative for some killer new content! Another example that came together so well – and actually includes Lindsay as well – is Erin Hoge’s rebranding of elh+co. After we completed her branding, she chose to work with Natalie Folchi for new images and Lindsay for clearer messaging and updated website content. And finally, working with Ekaterina of Se7en Elements Design was a fun website-only package. She’d recently had branding work done, but really needed a place to send potential clients and gain exposure. We primarily worked with images from recent home stagings she already owned and looped April Warner in on creating supportive content for the site. I encourage you to check out all these examples – and, when you’re ready, schedule a discovery call so we can bring your site to life!
