3 ways color psychology plays a role in your brand

This month feels like the perfect chance to chat through one of my favorite topics: color. As you’ve learned from my Beginner’s Guide to Color Psychology and seen on my Instagram feed, I not only love to play with color, but I believe it has serious consequences for businesses. We’re talking make or break here!

Here are a few reasons why color psychology plays a crucial role in brand development:

  1. Emotional Impact: Colors have the ability to evoke specific emotions and psychological associations. For example, warm colors like red and orange can elicit feelings of excitement and passion, while cool colors like blue and green can evoke a sense of calmness and trust.

  2. Brand Differentiation: Colors can help differentiate your brand from competitors by creating a unique and recognizable visual identity. Your brand colors become a key to understanding your values, positioning and unique selling proposition.

  3. Visual Consistency: Consistency is key in brand building, and color plays a vital role in maintaining visual consistency across different brand touchpoints. Use the fact that colors “click” with customers to your advantage by using your brand colors in your logo, website, marketing materials, packaging and other brand elements, you reinforce brand recognition and create a cohesive brand experience.

And while consistency is the big unlock, it helps to not only have an expert eye helping select the colors you’ll use for years to come, but it’s inspiring to think about the trends, too. I looked through beautiful photos, surfed Pinterest and clicked through promotional emails to create these three palates, each based on summer trends I’m seeing.

Trend:

Neon

The first is neon. Neon greenish-yellow is big right now – and what a fun summer color to consider! This color palette is expressive, optimistic and bright.

Trend: Beachy

The second summer color palette is giving you all the beachy paradise vibes. It is calm, inviting and peaceful.

Trend: Desert

The last summer color palette is desert with a mix of boho and lush natural colors. This palette exudes warmth, creativity and growth.

How will you jump on the summer-color bandwagon? I suggest thinking about it when you’re getting dressed… or if you want to mini-makeover your branding, ask me!
