Identifying your ideal client

Your ideal client is the VIP you'd love to work with—someone vibing with your brand and loving what you offer. They're not just customers; they’re actively getting the word out about how awesome you are. And the feeling is mutual; there’s a synergy there.

It goes without saying that finding that client—and, more importantly, multiple of those clients—is the key to success in your business. And before you spend the time to figure out how to get their attention, how to put out consistent communication, how to structure your pricing, all of that… you’ve gotta picture who that ideal client is.

Ask yourself these seven questions to build your VIP’s profile:

  1. Simply put, what do you do?
Get crystal clear on what you offer; no jargon. You’ve got to focus on this so you can zero in on who’s looking for it.

  2. What does life look like before your ideal client finds you?
Imagine a day in their shoes. What's stressing them out, and how can you help them? Think about their pain points and your solutions.

  3. What bugs them externally?
Spot those outwardly visible problems your ideal client faces—like an Insta feed that's all over the place.

  4. What are their internal problems?
Imagine their feelings and thoughts. Picture what keeps them tossing and turning at night concerning their main problem.

  5. What's the main thing they're looking for when they find you?
Figure out what they're searching for, even if it's not exactly what they need. Bridge the gap between your expertise and your clients’ understanding of what you do.

  6. Where does your ideal client spend their time?
Focus mostly on social media and other platforms here—but in-person activities and locations matter, too.

  7. What is their version of success (as it relates to their main problem)?
Understand what they dream about when it comes to solving their main problem. Speak their success language.

Put some quality time in with these questions, and your ideal client will be revealed. If you do this before we meet to talk about your next steps, it’ll help you go even further. If you’d like to focus on your ideal client profile together, I’m here for it!
